Judith "Judy" Powers Kinyon 83 yrs old of Santa Maria, CA joined her Heavenly Father on June 4th with her son Kevin Kinyon and daughter in law Rose Kinyon by her side holding her hands as she departed while listening to her favorite singer Tom Jones singing "Green green grass of home" at her home with them on June 4, 2026.

Judy was born in Richmond, CA on October 10, 1942. She graduated from De Anza High School in 1960, where she was a Home Coming Queen, cheer-leader and barrel racer.  She took accounting courses at Contra Costa College. She lived in San Pablo and El Sobrante with her husband Dennis Kinyon and later, Williams, CA.  She also lived in Butte Falls Oregon and Kalama Washington.  She then lived her final 13 years in Santa Maria CA with Kevin, Rose and family.

Mom loved all animals, cats, dogs and fondly remembered her horses Cream Puff, Beauty and Raymack.  She bred and showed Springer Spaniels for many years.  She showed some of her many dogs, Yukon, Cruiser, Christopher, Delila and Shelby.  Mom had a St. Bernard named Brandy that was as big as a Moose.  She loved the labs Ghost and Loki and "her" cat Jarvis and loved to sleep with Bailey up North.

Judy was a water warrior, who loved water skiing on Lake Berryessa and House Boating on Lake Shasta. She loved sports especially when her kids were playing football and baseball and was cheering her sons and teammates on at every game.   Kevin and Darren's friends still mention her to this day and her enthusiasm when they played.

Judy loved anything to do with racing especially NASCAR and was most excited about going to Talladega with her son Kevin, her great care giver and friend Tiffany Manriquez and Mr. "NASCAR" himself John Hotchkiss.  She started loving Stock Car racing at the Vallejo Speedway in the Bay Area and later attended many NASCAR races at the California Speedway, Talladega and to the Santa Maria Raceway.

She also loved all things Hawaii and was known by all for her beautiful Hawaiian dresses.  She was able to visit many of the Hawaiian Islands where she ventured out on Helicopter rides, superman style ziplining, swimming with dolphins and Luaus.  Judy's love of Tom Jones and his music is world-known – whether playing at YMCA water aerobics, concerts starting from back in her 20's to her last concert in Santa Barbara, CA.  She loved Tom Jones and all his music.  A special thank you to Tiffany for all the adventures with Judy – visiting Kinyon's of the North, Lopez Lake floating a swan boat while trying to eat sandwiches, Solvang Buellton ostrich farm, going to Santa Barbara and Atascadero Zoos, Cat Café where they petted cats and had coffee, turtle sanctuary, Monarch butterfly farm with Russell, Pismo, Avila Barn and all beaches.  They saw the Cambria Lights at Christmas and sea lions in summer.  They visited La Purisima Mission and Mission Santa Ines.  They were able to see Blake Shelton, PCPA theatre plays and were scheduled to see Thunder down under at Chumash (which Tiffany attended in her honor on June 6).

Judy is survived by her son, Kevin Kinyon and wife Rose Kinyon and their children Verne Cozmo Kinyon (Sara Kinyon) Joe Howell Wood (Cathy Howell Wood) John Wood, Lil Kevin Kinyon (Karlee Quinn) and Emylye Laperriere (Colby).  She is also survived by her son Darren Kinyon (Kathy Kinyon) their children Dakota Kinyon (Chloe Kinyon) Hope Kinyon and Jimmy Kinyon (Amayah Kinyon) Ian Economon (Kaylee) Nathaniel (Shealein) and Noah Page (Madeline)

She also has thirteen great grandchildren.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents Bettie Powers and Peter Muskin.

Judy will be missed for her loving heart, feisty & caring spirit, from having Zehra Berkman (a local teenager) live at their home during her high school years to countless schoolmates of Kevin and Darren who hung out, found refuge and ate at the Kinyon home.  These high school students always enjoyed the Wall of fame in her home with countless photos of them and would ask Judy if they didn't find their own picture on the wall.  She would always follow up by getting and displaying a picture of them.

In Lieu of flowers the family has requested remembrance donations be sent to the Santa Barbara Humane Society. Judy loved animals and they brought her much joy.

There will be a celebration of his life held on July 16, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Orcutt Presbyterian in Weedha Hall located at 993 Patterson Rd, Santa Maria, CA.  Since she loved all things Hawaii – please dress in your favorite Hawaiian dress or shirt.  Let's go all out so break out those puka shells, leis etc.   It's a celebration of Judy life and she would want it to be joyful.
