SANTA MARIA

Obituary

Aselia "Sally" De Anda, a cherished resident of Santa Maria for many decades, peacefully ascended to heaven on February 11, 2025, at the age of 91, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Marfa, Texas, to Lucio and Pilar Gonzalez, she moved to Santa Maria in her youth, which became her lifelong home.

Aselia later ventured to Los Angeles, where she met and fell in love with her husband of nearly 60 years, Jose De Anda. Together, they returned to Santa Maria to raise their four beloved daughters: Linda (Frank), Diana (Raymond), Nancy (Victor), and Anita (Ken). They were blessed with 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren who filled Aselia's life with endless joy and love.

As a devoted stay-at-home mother, Aselia was deeply involved in her children's lives, both in and out of the classroom. As they grew older, she transitioned to help manage the office at the family business, De Anda Auto Repair.

Aselia's faith in the Lord and her family were the pillars of her life. She found immense happiness in BBQ gatherings, cheering for her favorite sports teams, attending any sport or event that her grandchildren were involved in and taking trips to the casino. Her vibrant spirit shone through her singing and dancing at family celebrations, leaving lasting memories for everyone who witnessed her talents.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose De Anda; grandchildren, Ruben Serna, Joey De Anda, and Lydia Lopez; her parents, Lucio and Pilar Gonzalez; her siblings, Ester Luna, Margaret Tavarez, Rosaura Sanchez, Elvira Luna and Manuel Gonzalez.

Her kindness, warmth, and welcoming nature touched the hearts of all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, Aselia's love and memory will remain with us forever, until we meet again.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, February 28th, at 10:00 am at Santa Maria Foursquare Church, followed by a graveside service at the Santa Maria Cemetery.
