Obituary for Armando Camacho
Armando Camacho, a devoted brother, veteran, and lifelong student of the natural world, passed away peacefully. Born in Santa Maria, California, Armando grew up in a close-knit family and began his education in the Nipomo Elementary School District. He later graduated with the Arroyo Grande High School Class of 1962, where he formed many friendships that lasted throughout his life. He was also very active in the FFA programs.
Following high school, Armando attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, majoring in ornamental horticulture. His passion for plants, landscapes, and the beauty of cultivated environments shaped the direction of his career. He went on to spend 20 years in the horticultural industry, where his knowledge, skill, and love for the field left a lasting imprint on colleagues and clients alike.
Armando also proudly served his country as a member of the Coast Guard Reserve, served in the Vietnam Era, demonstrating the same dedication and sense of duty that characterized every part of his life.
He is survived by his brothers Hector and Marla of Kansas, Felix Camacho of Nipomo, Robert Camacho of Nipomo, and Conrad Camacho of Nipomo; and his sister Adela and Bill of Castroville, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Antonia Camacho; his sisters Yolanda N. and Mavi; and his brother Harvey.
A graveside service honoring Armando's life will be held at Santa Maria Cemetery 1501 S. College Drive on Tuesday, December 9th at 10:30 a.m. Funeral Service are being directed by Lori Family Mortuary.
